This is the idea
So, Hi! - I'm Daniel, I'm 31 and I live in Manchester (well, Salford - that will upset some) and the idea behind this blog is for me to take a topic then explain how I think it through, my thoughts and my perception on it.
I'm not professing to be an expert, or correct on these things - they are just my views. I'm a very analytical person and like to do research, spend time understanding something, I often need to know the "why" behind things. It helps me come to peace with it, if it's something illogical or non-sensical if I can label it with the reasons why.
A little back story, so you are aware of my mindset: I am autistic, (what we used to call Asperger's) ADHD and had a few years or depression, anxiety and some of the other associated mental health problems people on the spectrum tend to find themselves with. I've also battled with years of body image issues and diet problems, leading to a diagnosis of an eating disorder in 2021. Most of this, barring my place on the spectrum shouldn't impact my view point but I think it's important to understand where my view point is coming from.
If you're not aware, or unsure of what these are I think the key point to take away is that Autistic people can be quite rigid, like routine, struggle to understand any unwritten rules of the world or social norms. This makes us pretty free from the constraints of society to some extent - unafraid to bring up big topics and talk about them frankly, but it does often mean you put your foot in things unknowingly. Even if you are technically correct sometimes, it's just socially unacceptable to say some things!
This blog shouldn't be that controversial. It's meant to be much more analytical than that. I will almost certainly talk about topics, which may be close to people's hearts but may well have a positive or detrimental impact on the world. I say it how it is.
I won't apologise for anything I say on this blog, unless It truly objectively offends someone or a group of people - the reason being as this is just my opinion. I often read back my posts myself multiple times, but obviously the autism can err... escape me sometimes!
Maybe I'll have some more success with this.. I've tried to do a YouTube channel in the past for similar things, but just struggled with all of the organisation and time demands on me. This is meant to be a casual endeavour and not something that takes me away from the other hobbies I enjoy in my spare time!
Daniel
